Charges on Davante Adams

Davante Adams has been charged with a city ordinance violation for Monday’s incident. These charges are a little lower than the originally anticipated state misdemeanor charges. These are for an ‘intentional, overt act’ that inflicted ‘bodily injury,’ according to court documents.

The man shoved by Adams is Ryan Zebley. Zebley worked for ESPN’s Monday Night Football as a freelance photographer. He suffered from a whiplash, a minor concussion and a headache due to the shove. Now Adams faces charges in the Kansas City Municipal court where he is due to appear on November 10.

Adams faces up to 180 days in jail and a fine ranging from $250 to $1000 if he is convicted. He also faces action from the NFL.

Adams immediately apologized after the incident, saying that the action was born out of frustration.

“Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously very frustrated at the way the game ended and when he ran infront of me as I exited that was my reaction and I felt horrible immediately. Thats not me..MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this,” Adams wrote in a now deleted tweet.

The incident

The incident happened on Monday when the Raiders lost narrowly away at Kansas City. The Chiefs, led by star QB Patrick Mahomes, won 30-29 in a tense game.

Adams had a good game with 124-yard rushing and two touchdowns. He was also involved in two contentious moments towards the end of the game. He received the ball on third down and seemed to put his team in field goal position. If the Raiders had scored that goal, it could have been a match winner for them. But his catch was deemed incomplete upon a review. On fourth down, he collided with teammate Hunter Renfrow while trying to receive the ball.

With a stinging one-point loss, the receiver was headed back to the locker room where he ran into the cameraman.

We obviously don’t want any of our guys to be doing anything like that. He knows that. He’s very well aware of that. But I know the person; I don’t think there was any intent behind it, on his part,” Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said in support of Adams. What are your thoughts on the incident?
