REPORTS: Sean McVay Turns Down ESPN’s Television Opportunity; Commits to Helping LA Rams Defend Super Bowl Title

NFL franchise Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay are determined to not let their legacy go down as a one-hit-wonder. The feeling within the camp suggests McVay and the Rams will look to bring their victory parade promise to fruition. On Friday, the Super Bowl LVI-winning head coach reportedly confirmed to ESPN his intent to not pursue any television opportunities.

He reiterated his commitment to helping the Rams and their quest to make it happen again. According to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, the 36-year-old was set to meet with Amazon. They wanted to discuss numbers about bringing him in a possible NFL analyst role for Thursday Night Football.

The reported offer would have seen McVay sign up with Amazon for a 5-year contract worth $100 Million.

The supposed change of heart happened because of the Rams hierarchy increasing his previous annual salary of $8.5 million. The news was revealed to the Rams fans on Twitter by the organization in a unique manner. There remained a bit of hesitancy on the part of McVay to commit his future with the Rams.

McVay’s victory in the recently concluded NFL season made him the youngest coach to achieve that feat. The Rams head coach and his future remained in doubt following his comments stating he’s not coaching beyond 60.

McVay’s concerns stem from the fact that he wasn’t able to balance things due to the rigors of an NFL coaching job.

Conversely, McVay’s fiancée, Veronika Khomyn, posted on social media that he is not leaving following the Rams‘ championship parade. If he is successful, McVay will join NFL greats like Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, Chuck Noll, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Shanahan, and Bill Belichick to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

The goal now shifts for the franchise to make a concerted push to bring back the entire roster healthy. He has been the leader with a big presence for his teammates, who follow his lead during the good and the bad times. McVay now knows what it takes to capture the Super Bowl title and will return with that knowledge.
