Deion Sanders is not having the easiest time in his new role in Colorado. After arriving at the PAC-12 conference in December and completely changing the working regime, Coach Prime may have to shift conferences now. Clearly, the stress is adding up as the former NFL cornerback’s new look isn’t one that fans are used to seeing on the charismatic head coach.

While fans had their two cents about Deion Sanders’ latest style statement or lack thereof, it was his biggest cheerleader who raised the subject in a recent Instagram video. Yes, Prime Time’s mother did not like her son’s most recent fashion update.

Deion Sanders sends his mother to the praying room

After back-to-back SWAC championships with Jackson State University, Deion Sanders’ worries have compounded significantly ever since showing up as the Buffaloes’ head coach. The CU program had a 1-11 record last year and Sanders has turned the PAC-12 team upside down to make the necessary changes. Although the job came with a $30 million price tag, it has also had a significant effect on Prime Time himself.

The former Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers icon has always been known for his swagger. However, a patch of grey facial hair took his fans and family members by massive surprise. Coach Prime’s mother’s reaction simply set the tone for the new beard cut. When I walked in the room, I said Lord thank you. I saw it shining. I said Lord, thank you for the raggedy boy you gave me,” Connie Sanders said sarcastically. And Deion Sanders and the rest couldn’t help but burst out into laughter. The fan reaction was equally overwhelming.

She nurtured that little raggedy boy into a force to be reckoned with,” one fan said. “A black mama will always humble you,” another chimed in. “Nothing like family love,” another fan commented. “Momma Connie is a straight G,” one fan perfectly summed it up. Even Deion Sanders himself couldn’t disagree with the reaction.

Deion and his mother’s bond is especially tight because of his childhood

The iconic cornerback was born to Mims and Connie Sanders in 1967. However, Deion’s relationship with his father was strained, especially after Mims and Connie divorced early on. It was the latter who brought him up as a single mother during the most formative years of Prime Time’s life. Connie Knight was a schoolteacher who guided Sanders through the most challenging phases. And Prime Time returned the favor with his 2 Super Bowl championships and a $50 million net worth over his playing, broadcasting and coaching careers.

While the grey facial hair could have its roots in the CU football program focus, another reason for it could be the Madden 24 cover. Sanders wants to be on the Madden cover that is being announced this week. Surely, we can expect a clean-shaven look once his wish gets granted. Till then, Prime Time will have to bear the scorn of Connie.
