Rob Gronkowski put the entire NFL world on notice as he alluded to putting his fists to work. Ever since retiring, the former Patriots legend has been busy testing his luck in different endeavors. However, as his playing career perfectly portrays, Gronk is not one to settle for the ordinary. Gronk has always been a fan of contact sports, and no, it not about football, but rather a violent alternative.
Just a couple of days back, Rob ‘The Gronk’ Gronkowski hinted at a rather exciting matchup with former NFL Pro Bowler Shawne Merriman in an MMA fight at the Lights Out Xtreme Fighting event organized by Merriman. While the hype for the showdown turned out to be Gronk teasing the fans, the 4x Super Bowl champion does have an idea of what his fighting career could look like.

Ever since Gronk teased fans with his potential fighting career, questions regarding the same have been hurled at him. During his appearance on ‘Up & Adams’ hosted by Kay Adams, Rob Gronkowski laid out his vision around his fighting career.
While Kay Adams expressed her disappointment at Gronk not actually fighting Shawne Merriman, she came prepared with a counter.
“Did you ever doubt, I know you did WWE, any MMA-like thoughts about boxing, any UFC vibes for you at all?” asked an inquisitive Adams.
Gronk’s response seemed like the Pro Bowler had actually contemplated his choices as he divulged, “No. Not really. I mean, I’ve already gotten my head pounded in my body, like enough over the last 11 years. There’s no doubt about that.”
However, an exception offer thrown Gronk’s way might help change his decision, “I mean, if someone wanted to throw some extremely huge offer to someone, then possibly but it would just have to be outrageous. Like, give me six months it would just have to be an outrageous offer. and, and that’s the only way I would think about it.”
Both Rob Gronkowski and Kay Adams agreed that the ‘biggest draw’ for Gronk would be none other than the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. An excited Adams, however, wanted to see Gronk face off against his Super Bowl-winning teammate and best friend Tom Brady. A showdown between Brady and Gronk is bound to break the Internet, even though Gronkowski vehemently disagrees with the matchup.

Gronk’s UFC connection
This isn’t the first time that Rob Gronkowski has been linked to the fighting game. Back in 2022, Gronk hosted WrestleMania 36 while emerging as the victor for the WWE 24/7 championship.
Gronk even teamed up with another NFL legend in Peyton Manning, bringing the ‘The GronkCast’ to life. Teaming up with Manning’s production team, Gronk offered his own narration of the events throughout the entire UFC bout while being accompanied by his four brothers and his father, making the event a family affair.
