For the past few days, Rob Gronkowski has been catching headlines for his cryptic comments online. Moreover, the fans were eagerly waiting for the tight end to return for at least one more season with the Buccaneers. But his recent shot at running back Leonard Fournette is fading all the hopes of a possible comeback.

The 33-year-old celebrated his birthday on Saturday. He started receiving suggestions from all parts of the world, including Tom Brady, who asked him in a ciphered language. Buccaneers Leonard Fournette was the one who caught the attention. He wished Gronk a warm birthday and said, ” I am waiting on you” on Instagram. A few hours later, he dropped a Tweet, wondering how many fans will be wearing his No 7 jersey in 2022.

“I wonder how many 7 jerseys I’m going to see in the stands this year,” he wrote. Instantly, Gronkowski made sure to hop in and wrote, “I’ll represent a 7 jersey in the stands for ya!”.

Did he just say that he’s going to cheer for the running back from the stands and not return to the field? It seems Fournette was equally surprised to hear these words. “Gronk says homie don’t make me tear up bring yo ass back,” he wrote in return. After making fans wait for so long, is Gronk ditching all his plans in the NFL?

Todd Bowles goes harsh on Rob Gronkowski

After Tom Brady announced his unretirement, it seemed that Gronkowski’s comeback announcement would remain a formality. But it didn’t go that way. While talking to USA Today’s Josh Peter in April, Gronk was still figuring out a path for himself.

“So if I’m not all in to do that, then I’m not going to put myself out there in that situation,” he said. “But if I’m feeling that, if I want to go knock my head around, you know, but my body on the line, if I feel like doing that again, miss that, I would certainly sign another contract,” Gronk added to his speech.
