Edelman was a beloved figure in New England, and a true fan favorite. However, another New England Patriots fan favorite expects him to follow his lead in the future.

He doesn’t believe that Edelman will stay retired for very long, and will be back in the NFL. When asked about what the chances were of Edelman joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked like, Gronkowski responded in a typical fashion.

Gronkowski knows what it’s like to walk away from the game. Much like Edelman, Gronk announced his retirement in 2019, after the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII.

However, nearly 18 months later, Gronkowski made a return to the NFL, joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and reuniting with Tom Brady.

Julian Edelman to the Buccaneers?

The duo found instant success with the Buccaneers, winning their 4th Super Bowl title together after not having played on the same for almost 2 years.

Brady and Gronk liked up on multiple occasions during the Super Bowl, showing that their connection was alive and well. Perhaps there could be one more reunion in Tampa Bay for Brady, this time with Edelman.

Edelman is one of the most respected players in the NFL. Despite him not making a Pro-Bowl in his career, Edelman was a key figure in the Patriots dynasty of the 2010s.

He played in all 3 Super Bowl games for the Patriots and was the leading receiver for the franchise in all three games. In fact, he was named Super Bowl MVP in 2019 for the Patriots, making 10 catches across 141 yards.

In the last few years, Edelman’s playing time and output have gone down, and retiring seemed like the only logical conclusion. However, one can never rule out the possibility of Edelman making a comeback down the line.
