Since 2017, Colin Kaepernick hasn’t been a part of the league. Prior to that, he was quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and had a good stint in the NFL.

In 2020, the league’s official website claimed Kaepernick as a retired player. After seeing the NFL’s official website made this abrupt decision for him, Kap’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, didn’t sit quietly. Diab called out the league for this.

On her Twitter account, she wrote, The @NFL @nflcommish @NFLPA lying on their NFL website claiming @Kaepernick7  “retired.” Colin did NOT retire. You cowards…”

It was a loud and clear statement by Nessa Diab. Kaepernick’s fans also supported her after she made that tweet. It was pretty predictable that the league faced a backlash from many people for doing this.

NFL made changes after a strong response by the girlfriend of Colin Kaepernick

The league’s website made changes after a strong response by Nessa Diab. They later listed Colin Kaepernick as a UFA. UFA stands for Unrestricted Free Agent. The former 49ers quarterback belonged to that category.

Nessa Diab believed her boyfriend deserved a return to the league, but for various obvious reasons, he was continuously getting ignored. Over the years, Kaepernick has made multiple efforts to return to the NFL, but he hasn’t found any success yet.
