The injury of the 21-year-old quarterback prodigy Trey Lance has haunted the San Francisco 49ers. With just about 2 weeks to go for the new season to start, this injury is an unfortunate lot that the franchise has to deal with. Trey Lance, after the preseason finale against Las Vegas Raiders in the Levi’s Stadium, complained about a chipped finger.
Although the 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan has given a seven-day period for his recovery, which is well before the season starts. But the injury might bring some changes to the early proposed plans for Trey Lance.

Lance seemed to strike another player's helmet in the second quarter of Sunday's game. He remained in the game and sloughed it off in the post-game press conference afterward.

Shanahan, during a conference call with the reporters, provided an injury update on Trey Lance. He said, “He ended up having a small chip on his finger, so he’s going to be out about seven days.”
Without revealing any specific details on which hand or finger it was, he added, “He chipped it, which is a small-chip fracture, which is worse than a jam. That’s why it’s not going to just heal on its own without — I mean, he can’t take snaps and do all that stuff right now, so we’ve just got to rest it for seven days, …. he’ll be good next Monday when we get into practice.”

Trey Lance, after the game mentioned that he doesn’t even remember at what point of the game the injury happened, but was guessing that it might have jammed on the helmet. The rookie showed no signs of distress as if he knew it would heal well before the season started.

The 49ers, without worrying too much about the unfortunate ‘small chip’ of the rookie sensation’s finger, are preparing to huddle up against Detroit Lions for the team’s season opener. Though it is not quite sure if we will see the young quarterback in the first week of the season.
