The San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, was thrown into action when Trey Lance got injured in the first quarter. According to some reports, the rework on Jimmy G’s contract will see the player gain monetary incentives with every play. Accordingly, the player will earn a bonus of $250,000 in every game where he plays more than 25% of the offensive snaps.

Now with Trey Lance out with a season-ending injury. The Niners will have to call upon their backup quarterback. And this will give the player around 15 more games to play. This could see Garoppolo boost his earnings impressively. Besides, he also has a guaranteed salary of $6.5 million as things stand.

Further incentives for Jimmy Garoppolo

The contract also induces extra incentive for Garoppolo to play well. Anytime the San Francisco 49ers win with him taking 25% of the snaps, the quarterback will receive a further $100,000 in bonuses. So now that Jimmy Garoppolo is back at the steering wheel, it opens up a gate to earning much more than he otherwise would have.

The bonuses are also set to increase drastically if the 49ers make it to the playoffs. If the quarterback plays at least 50% of the snaps in a playoff game, he will get another $500,000. And with the same amount of snaps in the Super Bowl, the amount will rise to $1 million. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, as it seems highly unlikely.

San Francisco 49ers fans must be hoping for the team to make a deeper run into the playoffs. And Jimmy Garoppolo is no stranger to the pressure. He has been with the franchise since 2017, even making a Super Bowl appearance with them.
