Trent Williams began his career in the NFL with NFC East franchise Washington Redskins (Washington Football Team). The former Oklahoma Sooners man was a 1st-round pick (4th overall) by Washington in 2010. He went on to establish himself as one of the top defensive tackles in the league over the last decade.
After 10 years in the national capital, Williams was traded to NFC West franchise San Francisco 49ers in 2020. The 8-time Pro Bowler endured a slow start to his career in The Bay. But he went on to impress coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch in what was really a trying season for the Niners.
Williams was rewarded for his consistent displays with a record-breaking 6-year deal worth a massive $138 million by the 49ers. But things could have been much different for the veteran tackle had he opted to pursue other opportunities at his disposal.

“Luckily my boy (San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan) came through, man, and I came back. It’s kind of where I wanted to be, so dream come true,” Williams said in the video.
Coach Shanahan will be more than content with retaining the services of Williams for the near future. Along with the returning DE Nick Bosa and LB Fred Warner, the 49ers boast a strong defense (at least on paper) heading into the 2021 NFL season.
