DK Metcalf has been looking for a contract extension throughout the ongoing offseason. He is in the last year of his rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks. As a result, so far, he has missed the training camp, and his absence remains ‘inexcusable.’

Recently, he was seen attending an event hosted by NBA Legend Magic Johnson’s daughter. The Los Angeles Lakers legend shared a photo of him alongside Metcalf, and some Seahawks fans were left wondering about their WR’s future.

The wide receiver market is on an upward trajectory this offseason. Almost every top WR has been awarded a good contract. Therefore, DK Metcalf is also seeking a new deal.

Metcalf has been a top wide receiver in this league since he got drafted. He is still young, and the sky is the limit for him. If Metcalf becomes available, many teams will be interested in acquiring his services. If the Seattle Seahawks aren’t able to deal with his contract situation soon, he might look for the exit door.

The situation in Seattle is not favoring DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf was very close to former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos at the start of the offseason. It was a big move as it made the Broncos a contender and completely shut down the chances of the Seahawks.

The Seahawks now are left with Drew Lock and Geno Smith- as the two quarterbacks will be fighting for the starting position. With all due respect to them, they are not at the same level as Russell Wilson. Even though DK Metcalf has made it clear that he wants to stay in Seattle, things can change quickly.

The Seattle Seahawks need to act quickly on this situation. They are in danger of losing him for cheap if he doesn’t commit with them. Unsurprisingly it will come at a high cost, but there are not many young WRs like DK Metcalf in the NFL. Moreover, they will be looking to make a fix at the quarterback position also. It will have a huge impact on Metcalf’s commitment to the team.
