Sean McVay (36) will go up against his former assistant coach Zac Taylor (38) for the youngest head coach clash in the Super Bowl history. The stage is all set for the two beasts to lock horns. And McVay can’t wait to meet his former apprentice in the biggest game of the year.

The NFL world is flooded with coaching jokes on McVay, which goes: “if you had any affiliation with Sean McVay, you would eventually land a head coaching job.” Zac, being one of those affiliations, has proven it right. Three years after claiming the HC role in Cincinnati, Zac is back to SoFi for a faceoff with McVay, and fans can’t get enough of it.

The two coaches have come a long way, but they still share the same respect for each other, as they did before. During an interview with NBC Sports ahead of the Super Bowl, McVay expressed his thoughts on Cincy coach Zac.

“I have kept in great touch you know since the three years that he’s been there, but you see the mental toughness and the resolve that he’s had as a leader, that consistent approach, and the commitment to a philosophy and a belief, and then you get the right players you know,” McVay said.

McVay felt proud of meeting someone from his coaching tree in the big game. He even emphasized that he notices so many good attributes in the Bengals, that he has adopted with the Rams over the years. The way Zac coaches the Bengals somewhat mirrors his style. As he points out that the mental toughness and the resilience among the players is something he has conditioned his team with.

The 36-year-old coach also stated how he has been impressed with Zac, ever since his days in the Dolphins as the quarterbacks’ coach. “I didn’t know Zac really too well, other than just the respect I had watching the way he handled himself.” 

However, McVay also revealed that above all competitors. And now that he is meeting him in the Super Bowl, Sean will not let him go by the easy way. “We’re gonna try to get after him a little bit, and it’s gonna be two good teams going at it,” McVay said.
