Geno Smith did a good job while replacing Seattle Seahawks’ star quarterback, Russell Wilson. Although it did not produce any desired results, in the end, it certainly was a reputable run by the backup. Geno, during his 3.25 games as a starter threw for 702 yards, five touchdowns, a respectable 103.0 passer rating, and one pick that was not actually his fault.

However, he was not perfect too. He did lack with the number of sacks he took (13 sacks). Although keeping in mind the fact that Geno hasn’t started a game since 2014, this was not actually bad. In fact, it was a pretty decent performance that many teams would like to see from their backups as well.

As an analyst, Matty Brown took to Twitter to write“It took Geno Smith roughly three games to shake off the rust and play well at quarterback for the #Seahawks. MNF is Russell Wilson’s third game back from injury…”

Subsequently, Geno got infuriated with such comments, calling it a “false narrative.” Smith came as a surprise against the Rams as he drove the game to an unfinished conclusion with just a quarter of the game in hand. Although, his performance against the Jaguars was no less than an MVP-worthy spell as he completed 20 of 24 pass attempts.

Russell Wilson needs to pick up the Seattle Seahawks or hand it over to Smith

Although Smith came just three points short against the Steelers and the Saints, judging by the mediocrity of Russell Wilson in his previous two appearances after healing from his broken finger. Smith is far from being the black sheep of the Seahawks.
