The Bills’ safety player was at peak physical condition before he collapsed to the ground during a match with the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2. During the game, Hamlin collided with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins during a tackle. The 25-year-old had stood up for a while after the tackle, but he then collapsed back on the field with a cardiac arrest.

When Hamlin collapsed, medical personnel rushed to the spot and started using CPR and a defibrillator to restart his heart. After 10 minutes of spot care, they rushed the player to the hospital, where he received proper medical attention and care. The sudden blow likely caused a cardiac arrest in the player, according to medical experts. But Hamlin has made an outstanding recovery in a short span of time from the incident.
