“Should’ve Hired Byron and Wilson”: Jaguars Fans Unimpressed as Team Appoints Super Bowl Winning Coach to Appease Trevor Lawrence

NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars did announce the hiring of former Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson. The incoming coach will be taking over on Thursday following the Jaguars’ sacking of Urban Meyer. He will be taking over the Jaguars and looking to get them back on track after a disappointing 2021 season.
Pederson has a lot of work on his hands with a Jaguars roster that needs a fresh start. The new coach has a lot of experience and is the opposite of former coach Meyer. While Meyer did come up from the College football scene, Pederson started as an assistant of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. He then was courted by the Philadelphia Eagles as their head coach candidate and did spend 5 years with the franchise.

The highlight of coach Pederson’s career came during his second season when he lead the franchise to their first Super Bowl victory. The 2018 season is something that the Jaguars are hoping that coach Pederson can replicate in Jacksonville.
Doug Pederson: The answer for Jacksonville?
He does have a winning coaching record of 42-37-1 during his career. In their statement about his appointment, Jaguars owner Shad Khan states, “ I hope Doug can replicate that magic here in Jacksonville, but what is certain is his proven leadership and experience as a winning head coach in the National Football League. It’s exactly what our players deserve. Nothing less.”
While the hiring is looking good on the outside but many questions remain about Pederson and his seasons after 2018. The Eagles team did have a steep fall and drop-off in their level of performances with QB Carson Wentz‘s self-implosion.

Jacksonville Jaguars Fans to Hold Bizarre Protest Against Franchise GM Trent Baalke
Another concern for Jaguars fans would be missing out on their primary coaching candidate in Byron Leftwich. The candidate stated his desire not to work with Jaguars GM Trent Baalke and did request his departure. Even Jaguars fans did share their feelings on his appointment.
He went 42-35 at Philly. His last season at Philly he went 4-11-1 and because he won a Superbowl in 2016 he's a good hire???? I'm not knocking Doug but this recycling these old head coaches has to end. It's not like he's Tony Dungy or someone. They will b sorry still.

But it seems the Jaguars did hold on to Baalke for dear life and chose against the logic of hiring Leftwich. The mere fact that Pederson heard back only 4 weeks after his first interview gives NFL fans the clear picture. The first order of business for Pederson will be to extract the best out of QB Trevor Lawrence. If he manages to get him firing on all cylinders, there might just be salvation for Khan’s choices.
