Snoop Dogg lit up the stage at SoFi Stadium during the halftime show for Super Bowl LVI. Hip-hop’s finest assembled in Inglewood to deliver a performance for the ages. Snoop is an LA native, and the city has been a big part of his life, making the night special. Reuniting with old friends in Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent would have been special too.

During the performance, a picture popped up on the backdrop of the stage featuring Snoop with his mother, Beverly Tate. In an Instagram post, the legendary rapper expressed his gratitude for the chance to pay this tribute, saying, Thank. U @nfl and. @drdre for letting me have my mommas image. C apart of my set”

Snoop’s mother passed away in October 2021

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., was torn apart when his mother passed away in October 2021. The picture on the backdrop of the Super Bowl stage is one picture that Snoop posted the day after Beverly passed away.

Not the first time Snoop Dogg paid tribute to his mother

In a performance in Boston in October 2021, Snoop played Ben E. King’s Stand By Me and the rapper told fans that the song was a dedication to his mother.

And thus, it made sense that Snoop paid tribute to his mother on arguably the biggest stage he has performed on yet. The Super Bowl is one of the most popular sporting events, with millions tuning in to watch. Still Dre, a song by Snoop and Dr. Dre, crossed the 1 billion mark in YouTube views after their Super Bowl performance.

A Spectrum News reporter, Loureen Ayyoub remarked in Snoop’s comment section, “felt her blessing u on that stage!”

And it sounds like the perfect summary for Snoop Dogg’s Super Bowl Halftime Performance. 

The show had A-list performers and an A-list audience, including the likes of LeBron James, actors Sean Penn, Mark Wahlberg, and Matt Damon.
