The NFL is a ruthless business. Every single team is looking to get better, bolstering their roster with up-and-coming talent while leaving behind the fallen ones. Unless you are a great of the game, like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, your future is questionable. At least that’s the vibe around the New York Jets, as they recently released one of their players.
With Aaron Rodgers arriving in New York, the Jets are hopeful of securing themselves a spot in the playoffs, something that hasn’t been achieved for a long time. In a bid to change the narrative, the Jets have decided to surround Rodgers with a well-rounded roster and a few players have to end up on the chopping block. However, a certain former Jets’ RB has called out the franchise.

Ty Johnson feels wronged
Back in April, the New York Jets released former Detroit Lions running back from their roster. The news came as a shock to Johnson as he was re-signed by the franchise during the free-agency signing period. Johnson proved to be a pivotal force the previous season, not missing a single game. So why was he released? Let’s find out.
Update: RB Ty Johnson, formerly of the #Jets, suffered a Torn Pec injury while working out. He says the team told him to "Fix it" but cut him the next day after he did.
"I’ve had some Dark, dark days, man.”

Turns out Johnson suffered a torn pec injury while preparing for the season. Johnson immediately contacted the Jets’ medical staff who advised him to “Fix it“. Despite their advice, Johnson wasn’t interested for the surgery but flew out immediately to get back in shape. Days after the surgery, Johnson was cut from the team.
Speaking on the devastating news, Johnson shared, “I’ve had some Dark, dark days, man. Came back happy that I got it done, even though I didn’t want to get it done. That following Wednesday, you’re outta there!”
Since then the Jets haven’t commented on why Ty Johnson was cut from the team. However, the incident has rubbed the NFL fans the wrong way as several took to Twitter to voice their opinions.
Fans unhappy with the ruthless side of the NFL
The news of Ty Johnson being cut has divided NFL Twitter, as several fans had vastly different perspectives on the matter. Additionally, the circumstances under which he was let go just make the situation uglier.
One fan felt that more players need to come out, “Need more players to expose the business ”

While another felt that this wasn’t business at all, “This shouldn’t be classified as business. I know it will and I know the personality type that will defend this as business. This is trash by the org if true.”

One particular fan felt that Johnson was to blame for the whole thing, “Ehh maybe. He also opted not to go with the Jets doctors prognosis which I’m sure didn’t help either”

While another defended the franchise.
Wishing for a speedy recovery, but not really seeing the issue here. A 4th string RB suffered an injury while in the off-season working out. Sent him for surgery and paid for it…should they have just cut him and have him fail his physical for other clubs?

No matter the opinions, the bottom line is that Ty Johnson is no longer a part of the New York Jets. And while the young RB is recovering, one can only hope that he will find another haven to continue his NFL journey.
