The San Francisco 49ers are getting ready to clash with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship game later this week. And they go to Philly as the best defense in the league. But one of the Niners’ defensive weapons has landed in big legal trouble. Defensive end Charles Omenihu landed in Santa Clara County main jail due to a ‘push to the ground’.
Omenihu featured in the divisional playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. And his arrest may distract the Niners just before the NFC title clash.

The authorities arrested the Niners DE Charles Omenihu for pushing his girlfriend during an argument. San Jose police booked the 25-year-old at the Santa Clara County main jail for domestic violence. He was then released from jail after posting for bail.

The police did not observe any visible signs of injury on the body of the complainant. She complained of pain in the arm due to taking a fall, but refused any medical attention from the authorities.

Omenihu recorded his statement with the police and cooperated with the authorities. Police served an emergency protective order to Omenihu. So, he can’t go near the woman in question in the near future.

“We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information,” the Niners said in a statement, reported by the Mercury News. The DE is listed as questionable for the bumper clash against the Eagles for the NFC title and a shot at the Super Bowl. And the NFL world can’t believe all this is happening right before the big game.

The Houston Texans picked the DE in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft. In the 2022 season, Omenihu has done well for the Niners as a reserve. But his arrest may throw a wrench into his future.
