The media and sports business has evolved drastically. Likewise, consumers are willing to pay so they can enjoy the services at their leisure. Watching their favorites win matches on a lazy Sunday sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Well, here is a piece of good news for all football lovers. On July 25th, NFL Media announced an exclusive app named NFL+ launched! But the fans are in doubt regarding the plans.
Watch What’s Trending Now!
The app allows fans to enjoy the sport from anywhere and anytime! Indubitably, this app will become the next best thing in the world of sports. NFL brings the highest amount of watchers. In 2021, the average number of people who watched the NFL was 17.1 million per game digitally and on television. In the same way, Super Bowl is the most watched annual sporting event in the world. Given football’s popularity, no wonder this news will have fans with their credit cards out and fingers on their phones.
Fans’ reaction to NFL Media’s announcement
Although this news was supposed to excite fans, it left them confused and questioning. The app claims to offer live out-of-market preseason games, live local and prime-time regular-season and postseason games, live local and national audio for every game, NFL Films archives, etc.
However, fans had several questions about the services the app claimed to offer.
This is pointless. We are in 2022 and can’t watch out of market games
TL;DR of pricing for all.
The above tweet informs about the pricing of the exclusive app.
That’s not too bad
A commenter had a positive reaction.
Fans had several questions about out-of-market games.
I'm surprised they're intent on selling off Sunday Ticket. Unless they're just trying to avoid the overhead costs. I believe they could sell that service thru this app for over $100 per year and easily gain a TON of subscriptions.
This fan thinks the new app is a great idea.
This local and prime time only BS is dumb. Just put every game (local, out of market, prime time, playoff, etc) plus all NFL network programming and Red Zone on there and charge more. People would pay a LOT for that.
A user who has strong opinions.
I didn't see any mention of live regular season out of market games. If that isn't included, I'm not interested.
Fans need clarity about the features of the app.
That would be great, but curious if Apple offer will be too tempting
A user came up with a theory.
The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, “The passionate and dedicated football fans are the lifeblood of the NFL, and being able to reach and interact with them across multiple platforms is incredibly important to us. We look forward to continuing to grow NFL+ and deepening our relationship with fans…including the most valuable content in the media industry: live NFL games.”
The exclusive app launched on Monday will surely be a hit among the fans. However, fans are confused. They love the sport so much and can’t get enough of it. Hence, the development of the app is certainly foreseeable.
