Joe Burrow recently appeared on the FULL SEND PODCAST. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback does not make many media appearances. So seeing him get candid about things was a rare treat for the fans. Burrow talked about a lot of stuff. But one of the most interesting points was his take on the retirement and comeback of Tom Brady. 

Everybody was shocked by the sudden announcement by the GOAT earlier in the offseason. Although he unretired a few days later, that time was tough for many fans. People all over the world fell for Brady’s trap. But was he able to fool the Bengals QB?

Joe Burrow knew Tom Brady was not done just yet

Watching Joe Burrow talk is always fun and a rare treat for the fans. But on top of that, when the athlete spills some tea, it feels like the icing on a cake. Burrow gave his take on the retirement of Tom Brady.

One of the podcasters asked, “What did [Joe] make of [Brady’s] retirement and comeback?” Burrow replied, “I mean, did anybody actually think he was going to be retired?” Both the interviewers said that they were fooled by the news. The Bengals quarterback said, “You guys gotta know better than that.” He adds, “[Brady] is playing way too well to give it up right now.” The other host, Bob Menery, is a New England Patriots fan. He asked Burrow, “Then why say retiring?” Joe answered, “I think he wanted to shut down the conversation. Because if he didn’t announce his retirement, everyone would be talking about, “Is he retiring? Is he not retiring?” So I think he went ahead and did it to get everyone off his back so he can go and think about it.” 

It seems like fooling Cool Joe is not an easy task. He saw straight through Tom Brady debating about his retirement. Burrow does have a good point. Just like many fans and critics were wondering, why would Brady just retire after having an amazing season? It just did not feel right. 

Burrow’s theory on Brady announcing a bread retirement does make some sense. If the GOAT would himself would announce it, nobody else would keep bothering him. People just accepted Brady’s decision. If the theory is true, Tom Brady is a really smart man. Fans are glad to see the legendary quarterback prepare for another year. Do you think Brady and the Bucs will win the Super Bowl next season?
