It is said that football is not just a sport, it’s an emotion. It’s something people live by and die by. Young Alex Brown took the gridiron to show the world the depth of this notion and even Tom Brady cannot resist but laud the courage of the young boy.

Alex Brown is the Red Bank Catholic quarterback. He helped his team seal a 58-34 victory against Morris Catholic on Friday in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public B just one day after his mother Michelle died of breast cancer.

Alex Brown scores eight TDs for his mother

The Caseys’ quarterback scored eight touchdowns (threw for six and rushed for two) in the memory of his mother, whom he called “biggest inspiration in my life.”

“She’s always taught me how to be brave and be strong, and watching her struggle with cancer and having to deal with that pain, she made my understand what it means to be strong,” Alex told NJ.com. “She was my warrior, and she showed me how to fight.”

Losing a mother is surely the biggest sorrow of life, but Brown knew that his mother will always be by his side and so when he scrambled for 52-yard for a touchdown, he took a knee in prayer and pointed to the sky in remembrance of his mother.

“When I scored that first touchdown, I knew right away—she was always going to be watching over me. I looked to the sky and said thank you, mama. I ran to my coaches and friends, then looked at the crowd filled with my whole family screaming my name. It was an awesome experience,” Brown said.

Tom Brady is proud of Brown

His emotional yet heartbreaking news spread all over the social media that even drew the attention of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and NFL GOAT Tom Brady who commented, “Proud of you (Alex Brown),” in the comments section of Instagram.

“It has been extremely overwhelming – after my video went viral I’ve had ESPN, sports center, Fox News all reposting and sharing my story, I even had Tom Brady reach out and share his kind words,” said Brown. “And there have been thousands and thousands of texts and DMs I’ve received of people sharing their stories and sharing their love – overall it’s been an extremely special experience.”

As he plays against St. Joseph (Hammonton) in the next round of the playoffs, it is hoped that the young quarterback emerges victorious yet again.
