“Terry Bradshaw Should Be Fired”: NFL Legend in Hot Water for Troubling On-Air Remark

Iconic Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw is facing flak from fans and analysts. The legendary star made a comment on Fox NFL Sunday. When the panel analyzed the game between the Cardinals and Seahawks, the 74 YO made an insensitive joke about suicide. 

Bradshaw said, “Arizona’s mentality is throw, throw, throw, throw, throw. I think if this kid ran five or six times in a row, I think he’d commit suicide or something.” The experienced campaigner was referring to RB James Conner. This was after Saints HC, Sean Payton commented he would love to see Conner run the ball more. However, Bradshaw’s statement drew a sharp reaction from fans on Twitter.

A user said the legend should be fired right away.

 

A user echoed these words.

Lindsey Young feels suicide is not a joke.

Meanwhile, a user could not believe it.

Another fan, added Bradshaw, will have to make an apology.

This user asked to leave the legend alone.

 

The word ‘suicide’ sparked protests. Only a minority number felt the word usage is not an issue. 

Fans demand an apology from the legend

Bradshaw’s co-panelist, Howie Long, told the icon his words are a little dark for the audience. Reacting to it, Bradshaw elaborated on his point. He said the Saints did not care about the ground game at all. However, the damage was already done. His suicide joke did not sit well with the fans. Many of them demanded an apology on Twitter.

Another fan was sure he will apologize soon.

But a user thought differently.

A user had a humorous take.

The seasoned campaigner recently revealed that he has been battling cancer. Notably, the HOF-er is criticized widely because suicide is a key issue in the United States. As per data, 46,000 Americans died by suicide in 2020. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also stated the suicide rate in the United States rose 30 percent from 2000 to 2018. As a result, his words met with a lukewarm response.

When Terry Bradshaw checked in using a “Thomas Brady” 

In 1983, Terry Bradshaw did the impossible. He went to a hospital to repair a muscle tear. During that time, he checked into the hospital using a “Thomas Brady” alias. Tom Brady was just five years old. But it was a strange coincidence. Later, TB12 broke some of Bradshaw’s major records.

The NFL titan is yet to make a public apology. However, fans hope he would be more careful about his choice of words after the issue brought more awareness of a serious topic.
