Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson is in impressive form. Week after week, he puts in astonishing performances, and the NFL community is buzzing with praise for his throwing and rushing prowess. But, it seems one particular legend of the sport is more taken aback by a single instance from the Ravens vs New Orleans Saints game. And that legend is none other than former Indianapolis Colts’ star QB, Peyton Manning.
Manning is currently a commentator for ESPN, along with his younger brother, New York Giants‘ legendary QB Eli Manning. The Manning brothers host ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli’. During the game against the Saints, a particular move by Jackson left the Colts veteran dumbstruck.

During the 2nd quarter, Jackson executed a zipping, 12-yard pass to wide receiver James Proche. But what stunned Peyton Manning was how Jackson did not get his feet set for the throw. It looks all too casual when one watches it on replay, and that is exactly what Manning goes on about.
“I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. I’ve never seen that. A: I couldn’t do that. But young quarterbacks, don’t watch that. That is not normal. That is not easy to do. Get your feet set. Lamar Jackson is different. He’s special. He can make those kinds of throws. You can’t.”
NFL fans react to Peyton Manning calling Lamar Jackson “Special”
Amidst the warning to young QBs, Peyton Manning made ripples in the NFL community by calling Lamar Jackson “special”. And that is exactly what the fans picked up on. And they also did not miss the fact that he says “you can’t” to any young QB watching the show. Maybe Jackson is literally out of this world in Manning’s eyes?

There are a few who are critical of Jackson’s style too. They claim Jackson’s lack of proper footwork is nothing to be proud of or encourage, but his loyalists immediately counter these criticisms.

As Baltimore goes into their bye-week, the biggest question lingering on everyone’s mind is, ‘Is this the week they finally pay Jackson?’ The contract stalemate between the QB and the Ravens has been going on for almost 2 years now. But while Jackson can play the waiting game, the Ravens will lose more money as they keep lingering on this.

Already, a lot of NFL fans think the Ravens should offer him a fully guaranteed deal, and lock him in for the next 5 years or so. But the Ravens’ management has largely been silent, apart from the recent offer that Jackson rejected outright. As things stand, the Ravens are going to lose this standoff. Either in terms of a huge payout or in the form of an MVP QB.
