Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh shares an excellent bond with quarterback Lamar Jackson. The two are similar in many respects, in a sense, many overlooked them for other prospects.

Harbaugh is the kind of person who actively helps his charges improve their game. This is what earned him Jackson’s trust and respect as a coach.

Speaking about Harbaugh to The Athletic, Jackson said, “Back in my rookie season, he had faith in me to go out there and play. They put me out there, as a rookie with no games under (my) belt, to try to lead this team to the playoffs. And we end up going to the playoffs my rookie season. Just him having faith in me, that’s why I trust him so much.”

Lamar Jackson and John Harbaugh’s history?

It is worth noting that the Baltimore Ravens’ Head Coach was on the verge of being let go. This was after a lackluster first half of the 2018 season.

However, fate decided to give him a second chance when a hip injury sidelined Joe Flacco. Under normal circumstances, this is far from an ideal situation, however it paved the way for a young Lamar Jackson to rise up as a hero in times of need.

Of course, Lamar Jackson has also been criticized on several occasions. It started as early as the 2018 pre-draft process, where several experts wrote him off.

However, Jackson has always held his own against critics and the like, especially after he won the Heisman Trophy in the wake of a dominant 2016 season.

At the time, he was with the Louisville Cardinals, but some NFL scouts pitched suggestions of switching to either wide receiver or running back.
