It is not uncommon to see NFL players take up an alternate path after retiring from their professional footballing careers. Pat McAfee is one such name that has solidified his position as a guru of the game with his show, the ‘Pat McAfee show’. And it looks like NFL GOAT Tom Brady will be also taking up the role of the lead analyst for FOX Sports. Recently, Brady signed a ludicrous deal with the network for the position that he will start next year. However, it seems that Pat McAfee is the record holder in this field.

Most of the retired players take up the role of an analyst or start a podcast for the game to stay close to the roots that brought them fame and success. Being on the field for years of their professional career gives them an upper hand when it comes to analyzing the game and the life surrounding the players even today. There is no doubt that they are paid well to do this. But way before TB12’s mega contract, McAfee’s earnings left NFL veteran Marcellus Wiley’s jaws wide open.

The earning of Pat McAfee shocked Marcellus Wiley

In a recent YouTube video by Marcellus Wiley for his channel, he talks about Pat McAfee and his FanDuel contract. Wiley begins by talking about how McAfee wanted to work in major networks, like ESPN, for the NFL after his retirement. But he was not given the opportunity, mainly because he was a punter on the field. Wiley went on to talk about how McAfee then decided to do things independently by starting his own podcast show called the ‘Pat McAfee show’.

Wiley shared a story about how he got a call from an audio agent of Pat McAfee during 2018-19. The agent was trying to convince Wiley to start his radio/podcast journey again. Wiley was working with FOX during that time. But according to the veteran, he considered doing a TV show more beneficial than being a voice on the internet. The agent then reveals the earnings of McAfee during that time through his podcast, and it left Wiley in a state of shock.

In the YouTube video, Wiley says, “This guy is like ‘Yo Marcellus, do that!’ I said alright I’m good. And he’s like ‘okay, little fun fact and trivia lets have some fun. Who makes the most in your world?’ I’m like Colin, Skip or Stephen A. At that time it was like $8 million or something. He was like ‘Oh!’ He said ‘Pat McAfee making 10 already’ I said ‘the PUNTER?!!’ And I was like, ‘WHAT?!!’ And we all know now he is making like 3 or 4 times that. Crazy right?”

And, what was the fan due contract?

McAfee and the FanDuel contract

Less than two years ago, Pat McAfee signed a four-year $120 million deal with FanDuel. But it seems like the former NFL punter will not be moving forward with the deal any longer. He is in the middle of his second year of the 4-year deal, and it pays him more than $30 million a year.

It may seem like McAfee has other things in his mind. Maybe he envisions his path differently than the current deal allows him to. Fans will be waiting in anticipation as McAfee announces his next big move as an analyst of the game.
