Former NFL MVP Cam Newton just finished off his Auburn Pro Day throwing session yesterday. And he hit the bullseye more than once with some drool-worthy dimes. However, former quarterback Robert Griffin III thinks it will take Newton way more than just a couple of dimes to secure his spot on an NFL team. Recently, he came up with some advice for Cam Newton.

And it’s not just the former Carolina Panthers quarterback that RG III clubbed in this category. Former San Francisco 49er signal-caller and present-day activist Colin Kaepernick will also face very similar problems in staging a return. So what’s stopping these heavyweights from coming back?

The problem with Cam Newton and other guys like Colin Kaepernick is, the reason we love them is also the reason why they’re not in the league. They’re special unique players that play the game in a special way. And then these guys have such big personalities. That they are not suited to be backup quarterbacks. Because they can threaten their starters,” Griffin said. “They’re worthy of being one of 64 for sure. Bottom line is unless they are willing to lower their personality and come in to be backup quarterbacks, there’s not gonna be a place for them,” he added.

Does Superman stand a chance after his workout?

Cam Newton hasn’t played the full 2022 season and only played the last eight games in the 2021 season because starter Sam Darnold was injured. Having last won a game in 2020, and making his last playoff appearance in 2017, Cam’s stellar display at the Tigers workout may not bear the predicted fruit.

Newton’s ex-franchise has surely moved on after acquiring the first overall pick this year in the NFL draft. And the Panthers will look to build for the future with a franchise QB from this year’s talented batch. And Ohio State’s CJ Stroud looks to be the favorite as of now.

Kaepernick’s situation is even worse. The former 2x WAC Offensive Player of the Year has been slowly shifting more towards show business than a return to the gridiron. His latest book drew some fan criticism and a return, even on the sidelines, looks far-fetched for Colin.
