Tom Brady shocked the NFL when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the start of the 2020 NFL season. After spending two decades with the New England Patriots franchise, the QB joined the Bucs as a free agent in search of a new challenge. And in just his first season, Brady showed the world that he’s no system QB by winning Super Bowl LV.

This in turn led to a bunch of fans realizing that their allegiance was more towards Brady than the Patriots franchise itself. And among such fans is a Hollywood A-lister who to made the switch from supporting the Patriots to the Buccaneers.

Matt Damon now roots for the Bucs due to Tom Brady

American actor, producer, and screenwriter Matt Damon has always been a big fan of Tom Brady. An academy award winner, Matt Damon is among the highest-grossing actors of all time.

Over the years, the actor has been sporting New England Patriots gear on multiple occasions. But he had earlier admitted that his allegiance to the franchise was because of the man under center, Tom Brady.

So with Bray making the switch to Tampa Bay, did Damon too follow suit? Appearing on the Bill Simons podcast, Damon was asked just that. And the actor had a pretty clear-cut response.

“I watched every Bucs game last year… I love Tom (Brady),” he said. “He is a once in a lifetime athlete for all of us who were lucky enough to be able to follow his entire career. And I’m riding it all the way to the end.”

Matt Damon further heaped praise on Brady for his heroics where he guided the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV on a torn MCL. “I’m following Tommy. The fact that he did on a torn MCL. Just stop it, you know what I mean?”

The actor even went as far as to give his opinion about who was more influential in establishing the Patriots dynasty. And there are no prizes for guessing his answer.
