Marcus Mariota: Defying Fate

Netflix is releasing a highly anticipated eight-part documentary series called “Quarterback” which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of our favorite NFL stars. Produced by Manning’s Omaha Productions, in association with NFL Films, the series aims to give football fans an exclusive look at the challenges, triumphs, and personal setbacks of some of the league’s top QBs. Launching July 12, the series features quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota.

Recently, Manning, on the Pat McAfee Show, expressed his admiration for the new father, Mariota’s decision to participate in the series despite the uncertainty surrounding his NFL future. It takes courage and a strong commitment to open yourself up to scrutiny, especially when your season didn’t turn out as you had hoped.

“You sign up for what Patrick Mahomes got to do this year when the whole thing. Marcus Mariota signed up for this like he did not know the season was gonna go like it went, he gets benched a week, and he’s having a baby,” said Manning.

Also, the Sheriff shared that if he were in Mariota’s shoes as a young quarterback, he would not have chosen to participate. Manning revealed that he preferred to keep his recovery from a neck injury during the 2011 season private, turning down NFL Films’ offer to document his journey.

“As a young quarterback, I would not have done it. But as an older quarterback, I wish that I had done something like this. When you sign up for something like this, you sign up only for the good, right?
