The turf at the MetLife Stadium in New York has been the major reason behind a host of injuries. However, coach Shanahan opined that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury was the result of something more insidious.

Kyle Shanahan wants two penalties for New York Jets’ defensive players

San Francisco 49ers Head Coach, Kyle Shanahan, was clearly not happy with the recent fines handed out by the NFL to certain players. NFL officials have fined multiple players for unnecessary tackles and excessive roughness.

Dallas Cowboys DE Aldon Smith was hit with a $12,004 fine for roughing the passer. That incident resulted in a blow to Rams QB Jared Goff’s head which led to an interception in Week One.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Browns safety Andrew Sendejo was fined $13,327 for his hit on Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd last week.

But 49ers coach, Kyle Shanahan, wanted two New York Jets players to be fined for their unnecessary hits on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo as well.

Garoppolo suffered a high ankle sprain during last Sunday’s game at the MetLife Stadium. He will not play in this weekend’s game at the same venue against the New York Giants. Kyle Shanahan confirmed that backup QB Nick Mullens will start on Sunday.

The 49ers have a long list of injuries owing to last week’s outing in New York. RB Raheem Mostert, TE George Kittle, and Garoppolo will not feature in Week Three.

In addition to that, the 49ers will be without promising DE Nick Bosa who suffered an ACL tear in the win over the Jets.
