Aaron Rodgers is the leader of the Green Bay Packers locker room. Rodgers has been in that dressing room since 2005 and has seen all the ups and downs with the team. He is a winner and would naturally not like anyone talking about the possibility of losing.

After losing to the New York Giants in front of a packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Rodgers wasn’t happy with the comments made in the locker room. He publicly called out his teammates for it, especially Cornerback Jaire Alexander.

The Packers QB also pointed out the importance of getting the right message across in the dressing room.“We are the mouthpieces to set the narrative of the locker room. And there is an important responsibility because whatever I say or the coach says or a star player says is going to be echoed naturally throughout the locker room. So it is important that we are speaking the right messages.”

The aftermath of the Giants’ loss

All this started when the Packers lost to the New York Giants in the Week 5 game. Green Bay was the firm favorite to win the game in front of a packed London crowd, and they started the game in that fashion. But a late comeback from Giants ensured probably one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season. The Giants won 27-22 after being 20-10 down at halftime.

A-Rod was clearly not happy with the loss. What made it worse for him was that he heard Alexander talking about a possible loss next week. “I ain’t worried, but if we lose next week, then I’ll be worried,” Alexander said. “But it’s a new situation for everybody. New circumstances, sleep patterns. It’s a whole adjustment here in London.”

Rodgers wasn’t having any of it. He urged his teammates to not talk like that.“Frankly, I don’t like all this conversation about losing next week,” The QB said. “I’m a firm believer in the power of words and manifestation. And we’ve got to check ourselves on that because talking about that is not winning football. There was conversation about it in the locker room, and I don’t like it. Ja’s my guy, but we don’t need to be talking like that,” the reigning MVP added.
