There aren’t any athlete-coach pair like Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Their partnership spans an illustrious history, filled with innumerable games and extraordinary achievements that only a select few have ever attained. However, it is no secret that their synergy was not always seamless. Although Belichick is still regarded as one of the most ruthless defensive coaches in the history of the NFL, he was always criticized for downplaying the offensive roster, which greatly affected TB12. And after consistent bad seasons, the HC seems to be bearing the major brunt of it.

Sports podcast host, Colin Cowherd, recently was joined by a sportswriter, on his show, where they discussed several issues surrounding the current environment of the NFL. And Cowherd didn’t hold back in criticizing the Patriots‘ head coach for his questionable decisions throughout the season.

With nearly two decades in the sports industry, Colin has gained trust among sports fans by addressing current issues and offering his unique perspective. In a recent podcast, he invited Ian O’Connor to discuss how Belichick seems to be following a similar path with Mac Jones, reminiscent of his approach with Brady. He then claimed that Belichick has a distaste for being overshadowed or dominated by his players, hence his ill-treatment of Jones.

The host went on to claim that when Mac Jones joined the team, he displayed an ego-centric attitude, which did not sit well with Belichick. As a result, Colin theorized that Belichick was intentionally “punishing and marginalizing” his quarterback as a way to assert his authority. Colin then drew a comparison to Brady, stating that Brady’s relationship with Belichick remained intact because he was always ‘subversive‘ of the coach’s decisions.

Moreover, Colin expressed concerns about the Patriots’ recent draft picks focusing heavily on the defensive roster. He further added how the team has become one of the slowest and weakest teams in the league, due to Belichick’s negligence. O’Conner on the other hand, had an interesting take on the same issue.

The sportswriter dubbed Belichick as one of the greatest

Firstly, O’Connor provided a brief overview of how Belichick has consistently dominated the league with his exceptional game plans, labeling him as the best defensive genius in the NFL.

The sportswriter then highlighted the fact that Belichick has historically placed less emphasis on bolstering the offensive roster, even prior to Mac Jones’ arrival. He further noted that despite lacking strong support from his teammates, Tom Brady managed to excel and achieve great success. Therefore, O’Connor firmly believed that Jones couldn’t be compared to Brady in any significant way.
