39-Year-Old Forever Young Aaron Rodgers Admits He Is Getting ‘Older’ Everyday, Amidst Hinting Two-Year Retirement Plan

Aaron Rodgers is slowly inching closer to his Big Apple debut. The 39-year-old 4X MVP will be entering his 19th season in the NFL with the New York Jets. He spent the past 18 seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers, leading them to a Lombardi Trophy at the Super Bowl XLV. And now, fans of the Jets have their hopes set on the QB to end their 12-year playoff drought.

Amidst all the hype around his Big Apple debut, one cannot deny that Aaron Rodgers is growing old by the day. And even the 39-year-old opened up about this recently.

In the offseason, the 4X MVP QB recently took part in the American Century Championship held in Lake Tahoe last month. It was his first taste of title contention in the offseason, as he placed fifth overall in the ‘Super Bowl Of celebrity golf’. He also shared a post on social media expressing his gratitude to everyone who was a part of the ACC championships this year. But according to the 39-year-old, he is just getting older with time.

In a recent YouTube video posted by the Jets, we see A-Rod in action during the ACC championships. He talked about how he has been a part of the golf tournament for 19 years now, and how he’s had a great experience every year. Rodgers said, “Just like in football, I’m the old guy here. I mean I’ve been here 19 years. The tournament’s been generous enough to invite me every single year I’ve been in the league. It’s something we all look forward to every year.” He then goes on to talk about how the tournament has helped him make new friendships every year, including The Office actor Brian Baumgartner.

But despite his age, Aaron Rodgers does not plan on retiring from the NFL anytime soon. And his recent contract negotiation with the Jets hints at his plans on hanging up his cleats.

A-Rod has a few years left in the tank

One of the issues that the New York Jets had to address with Rodgers’ acquisition was restructuring his contract. The 39-year-old was set to earn more than $107 million in 2024. But the team recently succeeded in negotiating a new contract with the QB. Now, Aaron Rodgers signed a two-year deal that guarantees him $75 million. He took a significant pay cut of around $35 million on his salary over the next two seasons. This hints that the QB is looking to spend more than a year in New York.

With the Jets finding a solution to A-Rod’s salary dilemma, it will now be interesting to see if he can shine in his debut for the Jets and revive their former glory like the days of Joe Namath.
