Jacoby Brissett rose to the occasion when it mattered the most. He got the Cleveland Browns over the line with a shock OT win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was effectively his last game of the season as Deshaun Watson will finally be able to play for the Browns next week. But Brissett has won over the entire team locker room by saving them when they were at their most vulnerable.

Brissett made his emotions clear in his post-game locker room speech.

Jacoby Brissett wins over the locker room

After Jacoby Brissett led the Browns to a memorable victory over his former mentor Tom Brady‘s team, head coach Kevin Stefanski presented him with the match ball. Brissett then got the spotlight to share his emotions with the team. And he made the most of it.“Hey man, what a game. I told the offense, this isn’t about me, this is about us. It has always been about us. Every time we step on the field, it’s about us. I couldn’t be more happy and proud to be in this locker room man, be around you guys, come to work every day,” he told the team.

“Like I said, man, it’s never going to be easy. We didn’t sign up for easy. We got it the hard way today. And they feel it, we’re gonna feel it. But it feels way better when it comes with a win, right?” Brissett said after probably his last game for the Browns this season.

What a player. What a teammate to have. And what a win over the Buccaneers.

Brissett’s season ends

Jacoby Brissett stepped up for the Browns when they had their backs to the wall. The team produced a decent output under him. And it could have been better if only they could cut down on some defensive lapses. Deshaun Watson will lead the offense out against the Houston Texans in week 13. But Brissett has written his name in the memory of most Browns fans.

The QB has thrown 2608 yards of passes in the absence of Watson. Brissett has 236 completions this season out of 368 pass attempts. That brings his pass completion rate to 64.1%. He has scored 12 passing touchdowns while the opposing defenses have intercepted just six of his passes.

Now it is time for the Watson era to start in Cleveland. He is coming back from an 11-game suspension from the league and will make his return against the Texans. But the Browns locker room knows that if ever it is required, Brissett will be there with them. He has their backs.
