The Former Packers receiver James Jones appeared on the NFL Total Access and compared the QB to the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. He said, “I think he’s going to be in that category, years down the line, talking about him like we talk about Patrick Mahomes & Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers’ former receiver Jones made bold claims, pointing out his traits and capabilities. He also mentioned the role 49ers HC Kyle will play in grooming the young QB. He said, “Everybody’s saying he has superstar written all over him. There’s nothing he can’t do. He can make plays with his legs, and really strong arm. Kyle Shanahan’s going to put him in really good situations.”
How has Trey Lance fared so far in the games he has played?
In his first season (2021) after being drafted from North Dakota State University, Lance played six games for the 49ers. Further, he managed to score 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, with a 3-3 record. In addition, he completed 603 passing yards as well. This record has led Jones to believe that it is worth it to keep the second-season QB around.
