The Chiefs QB opened his QB career at Texas Tech, and the Panthers QB came out of Oklahoma. The Texan-born athletes had an all-out football mania in October 2016. Patrick Mahomes sustained a damaged throwing shoulder versus Oklahoma on that day. That only added to the awe of what he delivered afterward.

Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 66-59, in October 2016. The staggering figures are nearly incomprehensible to conceive. The two squads scored an FBS-record 1,708 yards of offense, with Mahomes and Mayfield combining for 1,279 yards passing. Moreover, they set a record for a college football game. The game remains in history as a Big 12 chef-d’oeuvre.

Patrick Mahomes established FBS records with 819 yards total offense and 734 passing yards while attempting 88 passes. Baker Mayfield responded with 545 passing yards and a record-setting seven touchdowns, which is a record at Oklahoma University. The QBs etched history, and the NCAA records had to be rewritten, courtesy of them.

As per the latest injury report, Patrick Mahomes is not on the list. It could be some good news for the Chiefs Kingdom. However, Baker Mayfield has been dealing with an ankle injury and did not participate during the Wednesday practices. While this information is available, it is unclear whether backup QB Sam Darnold will start the coming game. 

It is yet to see if Mayfield pulls a return or if will Darnold holds the fort.
