Pittsburgh opened their season with a loud win. However, they had doomsday waiting for them. TJ Watt sustained an injury during the game that derailed his momentum in the season. The setback seemed seismic, as the franchise could not bounce back in the winners’ stance. But the star edge rusher may pull a return soon.

Against the Saints, the Pittsburgh Steelers would get their reigning DPOY back. TJ Watt announced to the media on Friday that he will play again on Sunday when New Orleans visits the Black and Gold. Before the Steelers’ defeat to the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles, the renowned edge rusher showed up at practice. Rumors stated he would play before the bye week. But the team restrained him until the second half of the regular season.

As per ESPN, TJ Watt underwent knee surgery to address a preseason injury he carried into the regular season. After suffering a pectoral injury in Pittsburgh’s season opener, the star pass-expected rusher’s recovery time was six weeks. But the knee surgery would add a week or two to his recovery time.

Pittsburgh had a chance to start TJ Watt in the game. But they did not do so. The star edge rusher commented on the situation and was evasive about his potential availability.

TJ Watt mentioned, “I was a [practice] participant today, so I mean, just going about my business, doing what I’m asked, seeing how my body responds to the activity. I feel very encouraged with where I’m at right now.”
