Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ star QB had a special relationship with the former President of the United States of America. Yes, Tom Brady and Donald Trump were supposedly good friends even before the latter became the President. In an interview in 2020 with Howard Stern, Tom Brady talked about how politics affected his relationship with Trump.
Tom Brady revealed that in 2016, Trump wanted him to speak at the Republican National Convention. Brady said, “Yeah, he wanted me to speak at the convention, too, and I wasn’t going to do anything political.” Tom Brady refused the offer, as he did not want to be involved in anything political.

Brady first met Trump in the year 2001 while he played for the New England Patriots. In 2002, when the Patriots won the Super Bowl, Trump asked Brady to judge a Miss USA competition. Brady was then 24 years old, and it was the first time he had a chance to do something like that.

Trump attended many of the Patriots games, and he used to come to the sidelines while cheering for the Patriots. Brady thinks Trump had a unique way of connecting with people. After the team won, Trump would often catch up with Brady, letting him know he watched him play. Also, Brady used to play golf with Trump.

But then the political career of Trump started, and the friendship between the two gained attention. The way the media showcased their relationship made Brady very uncomfortable. Brady said he could not undo a friendship and always supported Trump as a good friend should. But he did not want to get involved in politics, so he chose not to speak at the convention.
A book by journalist Vicki Ward titled Kushner, Inc. was released in 2019, which claimed that Donald Trump wanted Tom Brady to marry his daughter Ivanka Trump. In the interview, Brady clarified that he and Ivanka had never dated before. He also said that Trump may have suggested this idea to someone else, but not to him.
