Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a horrible start this NFL season. Tom Brady and the Bucs lost their third consecutive game, the last game being against the Baltimore Ravens. Bucs defensive linebacker Devin White found himself at the end of a lot of criticism and not just from the media.

Former Buccaneers legend, Warren Sapp, questioned team captain Devin White’s leadership abilities. The Hall of Famer was not happy with White’s performance against the Ravens. I would take the ‘C’ off your chest,” Sapp said. However, Tom Brady has expressed his support for his defensive colleague.

Why was Warren Sapp so harsh in his report on Devin White?

Devin White is a former first-round pick and team captain of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the NFC Defensive Player of the month for September. That’s why it came as a surprise when he was under criticism for allowing the Ravens’ offense to run wild in the third quarter. Former Buccaneers defensive tackle and Pro-football HOF-er Warren Sapp was disappointed when White loafed and let Baltimore Ravens WR Demarcus Robinson run for a crucial 15 yards after a Lamar Jackson short pass.

Devin White responded to the criticism and said he apologized to his teammates. White said he had nothing but respect for Sapp. “Salute to him you know he did a great job he won a Super Bowl here, and it’s a freedom of speech you can say what you want to say,” White said.

Seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady tweeted in support of his Buccaneers linebacker. Brady said it’s not just White- the entire team needs to be there for each other. “It’s gonna take all of us. We got you [@devinwhite_40]. Go Bucs,” TB12 retweeted. Brady’s positivity was a refreshing surprise after the quarterback’s worst start to a season in over 20 years.

Can Tom Brady and Devin White lead the Buccaneers to the playoffs?

Devin White ended the Ravens game with 10 tackles, which included six solo stops. Despite the loaf at the Ravens’ 3rd and nine during the 3rd quarter, Tom Brady and head coach Todd Bowles believe in the fourth-year linebacker. White has 63 combined tackles and only three sacks this NFL season. So maybe this criticism from Warren Sapp will finally awaken the ‘Great White.’
