Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen purchased the property in California in 2008. After that, they immediately started working on getting a mega-mansion constructed on the site. The plan got delayed and the couple redrew the building plans to make more room in the house. The mansion they constructed was spread over 22,000 square feet.

The house had eight bedrooms, a full-weight gym, and a garage capable of holding six cars at a time. The couple also constructed a swimming pool coupled with deck chairs and a spa for their use. Reports at the time said that there also was a nursery for their then two-year-old son Benjamin.

Apart from the big space, the house also put them in the same neighborhood as celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Heidi Klum and Brady’s ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan.

Bündchen took special care that the house was environmentally friendly. The couple installed solar panels, energy-efficient lighting and rainwater harvesting systems to reduce the mansion’s carbon footprint. All in all, Brady and Bündchen splashed a whopping $20 million on the house construction. The couple moved into the house in 2012.

Brady and Bündchen’s divorce

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are currently going through a divorce and no longer live together. The couple reportedly fell out due to Brady’s decision to unretire. Brady had announced his retirement early in 2022 but decided to come out of it in just 40 days. This reportedly didn’t go down well with Bündchen.

Bündchen wanted Brady to spend more time with their family. Brady has two children with Bündchen, 12-year-old Benjamin and a nine-year-old daughter Vivian. He also has a 15-year-old son Jack with his ex-girlfriend Moynahan and Bündchen takes care of him like her own children.  

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback couldn’t make time for the family as often as Bündchen liked due to the strict schedule of his career. So, the rift widened to the point of divorce due to different priorities. 

Being the best quarterback of all time in the league and a six-time Super Bowl champion does come with its own downsides.
