Even great sportspeople can sometimes slip up in their sportspersonlike conduct. So was the case with Tom Brady after the Patriots’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. In the post-game, Brady snubbed the handshake of the Eagles’ QB, Nick Foles. It sparked the Eagles’ fans to wonder why Brady displayed this behavior towards a fellow QB after his loss.

In Super Bowl LII, the Eagles defeated Brady’s Patriots by a close margin, finishing the game 41-33. Although Brady and Foles share an amicable relationship, this snub was quite appalling to the media and fans. Moreover, in another instance, Brady snubbed shaking Foles’ hand after the Buccaneers lost to the Bears 20-19 in 2020.

The 7x Super Bowl-winning champion appeared frustrated at the loss in both instances. Losing such close games due to simple mistakes takes a toll on even the best players. The Bucs‘ QB remarked he has a lot of respect for Nick and tries to be the best sport. However, losses make him angry, hence the slip-ups on the field.

Nick Foles, the Bears‘ QB, is 2-0 up against Brady in his career. In both instances, Brady snubbed, shaking his hand. Further, reflecting on this snub, the 44-year-old mentions that he has shaken the quarterback’s hand on other occasions. However, the fans haven’t forgotten about this unsportsmanlike gesture from the QB.

In a press conference, a reporter asked about fans’ fixation with him for not shaking Foles’ hand. Brady responded, “No. I’m not. I’m not. I’ve shaken Nick’s hand plenty of times, though. I’ve got a lot of respect for Nick.” Further, Brady also clarified the toughness of the Eagles’ defense.
