Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman made some surprising comments regarding his Top 3 wide receivers in the league. The 3-time Super Bowl champion is among the few notable WRs to win Super Bowl MVP in recent seasons. However, Edelman was surprisingly downplaying the role of this reigning Super Bowl-winning wideout in a recent interview.

During his recent appearance on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast, Edelman revealed his opinions on who is the best wideout in the NFL. The Super Bowl LIII MVP ranked new Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams, Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen, and Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp, as his top 3 players.
Edelman also adds Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill as a notable mention on his elite list.

He gave the edge to Adams over the others because he praised his availability throughout the game and the ability to make up for his lack of pace. While praising Allen for his ability to manage his release, he admits to being a fan of Kupp for his versatility in the position. While the ranking might attract some fan attention, the ability of all 3 wideouts remains undisputed.
Does Cooper Kupp warrant a higher spot on the WR list than Julian Edelman?
While it is true that Kupp is among the very best in the business, Edelman states, “Cooper Kupp, he does a lot of everything. He’s not gonna go up and Moss a dude, but he’s gonna run comebacks, he’s gonna run gos, and get the back-shoulder like he did on the fade in the Super Bowl for the win…He’s versatile, and I’m a little biased toward those guys because that’s how I was, I played all spots.”
The praise from Edelman and his points ring true in the case of Kupp, who is coming off a season where he won the triple crown in the NFL. He became the first player since 2005 to lead the NFL in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
It was a season where he also walked away with the Super Bowl LVI MVP honors for his late-game heroics against the Cincinnati Bengals.

While recording 145 receptions, 1,947 receiving yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns, Kupp became the NFL superstar. He was the star that the Rams organization always knew about when they drafted him in 2017. As another NFL season gets closer, Kupp will aim to repeat the feats from 2021 into next season as they hope to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
