Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is a name that nearly every fan recognizes in the NFL. However, recent accounts from his high school past suggest that football was never his strongest suit. While Brady has since gone on to capture seven Super Bowl championships in his career, it might be a nightmarish thought for any Brady fan.

While talking with ABC Action News, Brady’s former high school baseball coach believes he was born to play baseball. He attended the Serra High School and was playing as a catcher under coach Pete Jensen’s mentorship. Jensen reveals, “Tommy hit a home run, he actually hit two that day, but one of them hit the roof of the bus and woke the driver up, kind of startled him…He had a body we called projectable where he had room to get stronger, add weight. He was a left-handed hitter which went nice with the catching position.”
The coach was adamant that Brady possessed the skill set, the power, and the throw key to the position. According to SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit, the 17-year-old was an 18th-round pick in the 1995 MLB Draft for the Montreal Expos. While NFL fans will be thanking Brady’s decision to pursue football, Jensen’s comments suggest Brady would have been successful in the MLB.
Tom Brady was never looking back after deciding to walk away from baseball
While it was a bold decision for Brady to stop pursuing a baseball career, he eventually moved to join the University of Michigan to play football. As a Wolverine, Brady had a rough yet constructive growth as a player while recording a 20-5 record. While he spent 4 years in Michigan, the GOAT was a starting QB for only 2 seasons.
Brady faced competition from Drew Henson, who was one of the most highly regarded recruits for the quarterback position. However, Brady‘s first opportunity to capitalize on any openings led him to become the starting QB.
He left the team on a high note with a victory in the 2000 Orange Bowl.
