An update reveals that multiple teams are expected to express interest in signing 5x Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins as a free agent. Seeking a lucrative contract, Hopkins has drawn attention from the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys. The resolution of these potential pursuits will determine whether Hopkins joins any of these teams. What’s next?

Well, in addition, Hopkins may explore opportunities with other teams as a free agent. He remains open to reuniting with his former Houston teammate. After a chaotic offseason, there are some challenges that could prevent this potential reunion from happening.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, DeAndre Hopkins, who was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this year, would be open to reuniting with former teammate Deshaun Watson on the Cleveland Browns. Hopkins and Watson formed a prolific duo during their three seasons together in Houston. However, Hopkins’ trade to the Cardinals in 2022 and Watson’s arrival at the Browns in 2023 after a tumultuous offseason present some obstacles to this potential reunion. One of the challenges includes Hopkins’ salary demands conflicting with the Browns’ cap space. Nonetheless, the Browns are reportedly among the teams interested in acquiring Hopkins.

While the Bills may still be interested in Hopkins, they are not considered top contenders for his services. With a formidable receiving corps led by Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, the Bills may lack sufficient cap space to afford Hopkins’ salary, as they currently hold $1.47 million. Additionally, unlike the Ravens and the Chiefs, the Bills did not engage in substantial trade talks with the Cardinals prior to Hopkins’ release.

Meanwhile, team Patrick Mahomes & team Dak Prescott’s situation is too an interesting scenario, per reports.

The Chiefs & the Cowboys scenario?

The Chiefs would need to make significant moves to accommodate Hopkins’ desired salary of $30 million per year. Moreover, the Chiefs already possess a formidable offense featuring Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and others. Thus, they may question the necessity of acquiring another high-priced star receiver. While the Chiefs engaged in trade discussions with the Cardinals for Hopkins, they failed to reach a contractual agreement. Despite the ongoing interest, the Chiefs confront substantial hurdles in securing his services. Notably, they currently possess the NFL’s lowest cap space, with less than $1 million available.

The Cowboys’ chances of signing Hopkins hinge on his valuation of playing in Dallas and the team’s willingness to invest in him. Currently, the Cowboys are considered the frontrunners with a 33% chance, as per a betting site. Nevertheless, these odds could fluctuate as additional information emerges. Ultimately, the decision rests on Hopkins’ preferences and the financial commitment the Cowboys are prepared to make.
