That was not all. QB Lance even showed up during the first day of the 49ers’ rookie minicamp to meet the 9th of 9 draft selections in person. Lance invested in his rookie campaign assisting seasoned QB Jimmy Garoppolo. However, the tremendous anticipation is that he will take over for the starting role in year 2.

With Trey Lance likely taking the role in starting rotation, the situation over Jimmy G remains uncertain. He is currently recovering in Southern California after undergoing a right shoulder surgical procedure on March 8. Surgery has confounded Garoppolo’s destiny, with the 49ers trying to hold on to him for the time being.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Garoppolo’s agreement contains a $7.5 million injury assurance. After doctors clear him to play again, the 49ers will continue to trade him. However, there aren’t too many options left.

Furthermore, Lance would be the playmaker and Nate Sudfeld as the backup, relying on what actually occurs with Garoppolo. One thing is certain: QB Jimmy is not yet gone. Although, Lance obviously believes that carrying on a position of leadership is about his squad and his moment.
