Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally made it to the postseason. Despite having a season that was far from spectacular, the Bucs managed to clinch the NFC South with their win over the Panthers.

The Bucs had a poor start to the game but eventually got back on their feet. Post their victory, Brady elaborated on the team’s efforts. Tampa Bay perhaps heaved a sigh of relief after TB12 regained his somewhat lost connection with his favorite receiver. The 45-year-old, surprisingly, had some high praise for the team despite their inconsistency all year long.

TB12 gave fans an explosive performance on the field. Completing 34 of 45 passes and 432 yards, Brady and the Bucs looked a lot like themselves from two seasons ago. The QB found Mike Evans for all three touchdowns, which is something fans will be glad for. After witnessing a diminished connection between the two, there’s no doubt Brady and Evans are relieved to see the vast improvement. Speaking of their victory, Brady stressed the importance of working as a team and the contribution of every member.

He said, “My teammates, my coaches- putting us in a great position to succeed. You know all the way back then it was always about the team. That’s why this sport is the ultimate team sport, you rely so much on everybody to do their job at a high level.” While we can argue that the Bucs’ performance this year was far from the high level of athleticism the QB is envisioning, it proves that Brady, after all, is human.

The expectations set on the seven-time Super Bowl champ’s shoulders can be a cumbersome weight to carry all alone. Brady’s legacy surpasses the rest. That, perhaps, makes the NFL world forget that TB12 cannot be pinned down to always carry the team. Brady’s emphasis on teamwork indicates that the onus of a team’s performance cannot be exclusive to one person alone.

Brady will try to make the best use of the opportunities ahead

Post their victory, the QB was in good spirits. TB12 also added, “I’m very blessed to enjoy- that’s what life’s about you know, memories and relationships. I feel like I’m the luckiest guy in the world.” While Brady’s optimism is enviable, the NFL world has watched him go through a year where luck seemed to evade him on all fronts. While TB12 tried to clean up the damage caused by his very public divorce, his attempts to salvage the Bucs’ season simultaneously were disastrous. So, clinching the division is the best way to end their rollercoaster of a regular season.

While this is indeed a celebratory event, it is perhaps the first step. The road ahead will definitely not be a piece of cake. The Bucs were able to clinch the NFC South because of the poorly performing division’s benevolence. Would the Bucs have made it if the rest of their division were on their A-game? Perhaps not. But Brady and the Bucs will try to seize this opportunity and try to continue the upward trajectory of their newly found good form.
