The Jets may make their picks without a resolution, leaving Rodgers with a tough decision about attending mandatory mini-camp. Rodgers vs. Jets: Radio silence Sparks intrigue

Renowned reporter Adam Schefter, this Tuesday reported an update on the ongoing saga involving Aaron Rodgers, the star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, and the New York Jets. As per Schefter’s report, communication between Rodgers and the Packers has been noticeably lacking in recent weeks, even during the owners’ meetings. “My understanding is there hasn’t been a whole lot of conversation, if any, over the last couple of weeks.”, per Adam. As the NFL draft draws near, both sides hold firm in their positions, leaving uncertainty about any potential progress.

Schefter’s report says, what’s particularly intriguing is that if the Jets and Rodgers fail to reach a resolution by the time the draft rolls around, the Jets – who possess the 13th, 42nd, and 43rd picks – may opt to make their selections without taking Rodgers into account. This would present Rodgers with the tricky choice of whether or not to be present for the Packers’ obligatory mini-camp in May.

The Packers may be hesitant to risk having Rodgers on the field and potentially getting injured, especially given that he is set to count for roughly $60 million against their salary cap, per Adam Schefter.

Marcus Spears highlights potential weaknesses

The debate continues on the report, Marcus Spears saying, the recent moves made by the New York Jets and how they could potentially impact their ability to negotiate with Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

“When they[Jets] hired Nathaniel Hackett and then got Alan Lazard. Aaron came on Pat McAfee and said he desired to play for the New York Jets. Jets negotiating power flew out of the window a long time ago.” – Marcus Spears.

The Jets have recently hired Nathaniel Hackett and acquired Alan Lazard, which could indicate their interest in Rodgers. However, according to Spears, this could actually weaken the Jets’ negotiating power because Rodgers has expressed a desire to play for the Jets.

“Why would they be in a hurry to do anything, when the things they want and desire are on the desk of general manager Joe Douglas and the New York Jets desk. Just sit back and wait for the Jets will get desperate.” – Marcus Spears said.

Spears suggests that the Jets may now feel pressured to make a deal with the Packers for Rodgers, but the Packers may not be in a rush to do anything because the Jets’ desired assets are already on the table with Jets General Manager Joe Douglas.
