With the next season rolling closer than ever, the San Francisco 49ers are in a dubious position. With their QB out since the beginning of the year, they will be hoping that he can come back soon enough. Although Brock Purdy has shared an update that he is ahead of schedule for his recovery. The fans of the 49ers might be excited to hear about an early return for their QB.

Despite the news about his recovery and Purdy marching ahead of his recovery schedule. It is too early to say whether he will be back for 2023.

Purdy was not meant to be a starter last season, but was thrust into the lineup when they lost their first choice QB to injury. With Trey Lance brought in last season for three first round picks, he was supposed to be the designated starter. Having injured himself two weeks into the NFL season, Purdy stepped up and led the team.

On the show, ‘Speak’, Lesean ‘Shady’ McCoy talks about whether they should believe Purdy will be back for 2023. When asked by a co-host if he is worried about the situation 49ers have found themselves in. Shady responds that, “yeah I’m still worried. I mean they’re not saying when he’s going back exactly he said he should be back but we don’t know.

The former Super Bowl Winner goes on to add about the predicament of the 49ers. He says, “until he’s back developing himself with the wide receivers with the players…we could be okay we know where Brock Purdy is going to be…but until then I’m worried.” McCoy and his co-hosts are wondering what their QB is going to look like in this team, but the QB is not ready to start so far. The injury problem is one that has persisted since last season, and even in the offseason has seen some players remain unavailable.

Despite signing Trey Lance last year to fill in their QB position, the 49ers found themselves in a pickle. His injury saw the team turn to the rookie QB, Brock Purdy to step in and perform for the team. With the conference game in 2022 pushing Purdy out, he has been recovering ever since. The 49ers have not adapted to the situation as they have been forced to field 3 QBs in 4 of the last six seasons in the NFL.

Last year, over 20 players were unavailable due to injury at some point in the season. And as of June, three players are still out injured and recovering including Purdy. Although Purdy had a decent year in his rookie season with the San Francisco outfit. The 49ers continue to proceed without caution as they ignore the possibility of bringing in a franchise QB.

Brock Purdy is an unproven talent who stepped up when the spotlight turned to him. Whether he can continue to step up is yet to be seen. And if he is unavailable to start, Trey Lance and others will be thrust in just like Purdy was last year.
