In the buildup to the 2020 NFL draft, LSU star Clyde Edwards-Helaire began to attract some interest. The Louisiana-born athlete rushed for 1,400+ yards and completed 14 rushing TDs as Joe Burrow-led LSU won the National Championship over Clemson Tigers in 2019.

Along with quarterback Joe Burrow, Edwards-Helaire was one of the top prospects at the 2020 NFL combine. He was touted as a potential first-round and was eyed by a number of top NFL teams. One of them was Tampa Bay Buccaneers who had recently signed the legendary Tom Brady on a two-year deal.

Here is what Bayless said about the former LSU man who could have been playing alongside Tom Brady this season.

“I told you how much I love Clyde Edwards-Helaire. I was hoping Brady’s new team would snatch him up. Once Andy Reid got him, I said: ‘Patrick Mahomes just got even better.’ And it was proven out last night. This young man has got some Emmitt Smith going on,” Bayless said on the show.

Of course, with or without Edwards-Helaire, the Buccaneers have one of the strongest offensive teams in the league. Well, at least on paper. Coach Bruce Arians is lucky to have some star offensive players on his rosters in the form of Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, OJ Howard, and Cameron Brate. The Bucs brought in former New England Patriots stars, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in the summer.

They also made some late additions in the form experienced running backs, Leonard Fournette and LeSean ‘Shady’ McCoy. They start their 2020 campaign with a tough clash against Drew Brees-led New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this weekend.
