Latimer is no stranger to brushes with the law. In May 2016, police arrested the wide receiver over an unpaid traffic ticket. However, this time the charges are far more serious. They include felony, illegal discharge of a firearm, second-degree assault, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

As per a sheriff department report, a witness heard something that sounded like gunshots. Later, the 27-year-old posted a bond of $25,000.

Latimer’s attorney Harvey Steinberg commented on his client’s troubles. He said, “There’s an entire back story to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine. Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known.”

He is advocating the innocent until guilty ideology. However, one wonders if The Redskins will think in the same manner. Latimer joined the Washington team earlier this year on a 1 year $1 million deal. The Washington Redskins issued a statement saying they were aware of the issue.

“We are aware of the situation and have informed the NFL League Office. We will continue to gather more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Latimer came off an NFL career-high games played in 2019 and featured on 15 occasions for the New York Giants.
