The Aaron Rodgers trade saga has had its fair share of ups and downs. With a number of speculations, Rodger’s decision to undergo a darkness retreat just added fuel to all the narratives around him. While Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers find themselves at crossroads, a number of teams are looking for an opportunity to enlist A-Rod within their ranks.

The four-time NFL MVP award recipient has been debating between a trade or potential retirement. If a trade is indeed the outcome, then the New York Jets might just be the perfect landing spot for Rodgers. Even though the organization itself seems keen on Aaron Rodgers, several former Jets legends have spoken against the acquisition.

The Right fit

The New York Jets have been looking at a number of options to fill the quarterback position, but the likes of Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers seem to be on top of their list. Derek Carr has already visited the New York Jets facility to get a feel for it. Rodgers on the other hand has still not shared his decision with the rest of the world.

Amid all the hype from the Jets fans for a potential Rodgers trade, former Jets legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Klecko feels otherwise.

During his visit to the CBS Sports Radio’s “Zach Gelb Show,” Klecko said, “I don’t think Rodgers is a fit with the young guys. I related this to myself when we came up as a young team when we started winning. Why it was a good fit for all of us was because we all worked together and came up together. I’ve watched Rodgers over the years. He’s a great player. You don’t become an MVP three times without doing what he’s done.”

Klecko seems to be scared of Rodgers’ attitude toward the younger players on the roster.

He went on to say, “When he didn’t have the perfect arrangement with receivers and the line, his attitude was condescending somewhat to the players. … [Garrett] Wilson won Offensive Rookie of the Year. I can’t see him coming back to the huddle and Rodgers lambasting him for running the wrong route. It’s not gonna fit. I don’t see it.”

Rodgers’s attitude has been a big question mark within the league, but his talents are far beyond comprehension. However, it is safe to say that Joe Klecko makes some points that could turn out to be a hurdle for both Rodgers and the team in the future.

Another legend chimes in

Former Jets players Tiki Barber and Darrelle Revis also shared their opinions on the Rodgers trade. While Barber feels that Rodgers is “too sensitive” to join a big media market such as New York, Revis shared his optimism about the matter.

I believe he has weapons at every position,” said Revis, a 7x Pro Bowler. “As Jets fans. As Jet lovers. We can see some high-scoring games. We can see some big victories.”

Despite all the speculations, it is still completely up to Rodgers, and the Super Bowl champion seems to be holding his cards close to his chest.
